Day 1

Arrival in Sofia. Transfer to Plovdiv – European capital of culture for 2019. Accommodation and optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Plovdiv.

Day 2
50 km

Breakfast. Walk around the romantic cobbled streets of the Old Town and visit to the Ethnographic Museum, Hindliyanova House, the Ancient Roman Theatre, etc. Departure for Bachkovo. Visit to the medieval Bachkovo Monastery – second most important orthodox monastery in Bulgaria, located amidst the outer ridges of the Rhodope mountains, its wonderful ensemble represents a mixture between Bulgarian, Georgian and Byzantine heritage. Drive to Kosovo village. Accommodation at the local Kosovo houses. Optional dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Kosovo.

Day 3

Breakfast. Departure for the Marvelous Bridges – walk among the magnificent rock formations, resembling huge old Turkish bridges over a small river. Departure for Momchilovtsi. Along the way – photo break at Rozhen meadows, where one of the largest Bulgarian folklore festivals takes place every year. Visit to Momchilovtsi – beautiful traditional village located at 1200 meters over the sea level. At the local museum you can learn a lot about the Rhodopean customs and traditions. One of the most famous contemporary Bulgarian magicians – Nencho Balabanov, has organized here a new museum of magic, where you can get to know how some of the most famous magic tricks are performed. Departure for Smolyan. Accommodation. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Smolyan.

Day 4

Breakfast. Visit to the Waterfalls Canyon – walk through the magnificent scenery of the highest part of Rhodope mountains. Return to the centre of Smolyan and visit to the Planetarium and the largest orthodox temple in Smolyan – the modern Church of St. Visarion Smolyanski. Walk in Dolno Raykovo Quarter, known for its well-preserved traditional 19th century architecture. Overnight in Smolyan.

Day 5

Breakfast. Departure for the Smolyan Lakes. Climbing up Snezhanka Peak by lift. Free time for a photo break and a drink on the Panorama floor of the Snezhanka Tower. Getting down by lift to Pamporovo Resort. Departure to the village of Shiroka Laka. Walk in the old quarter, bearing the atmosphere of the Bulgarian National Revival period, visit to the Ethnographic Museum. Departure for Devin – one of the famous SPA resorts of Bulgaria thanks to the local mineral waters. Accommodation. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Devin.

Day 6

Breakfast. Drive to the village of Trigrad. Rest among the magnificence of the Trigrad Gorge and visit to the Devil’s Throat Cave. Pass through the picturesque Buynovo Gorge and visit to the impressive Yagodina Cave. Optional jeep drive to the Eagle’s Eye panoramic viewpoint. Return to Devin. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Devin.

Day 7

Breakfast. Departure for the village of Dolen – architectural reserve preserving the typical Rhodopean architecture. Walk along the cobbled streets with beautiful panoramic views. Departure for Kovachevitsa – one of the most famous and most beautiful villages in Bulgaria. It is also known as “Bulgarian Hollywood” due to the fact that it is often featured in Bulgarian movies. Departure for Sofia. Arrival in Sofia in the evening, accommodation. Optional dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Sofia.

Day 8

Breakfast. Guided walking tour of Sofia. Visit of Alexander Nevski Cathedral - one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in Europe, as well as one of Sofia’s symbols and a primary tourist attraction; St. George Rotunda, St. Sophia Church, built by the Roman Emperor Justinian in the 6th century, National Theatre, former Royal Palace, Presidency, etc. Tour duration – approx. 2 hours. Transfer to the airport and departure.
