Departure for ancient city Heraclea Sintica. The ancient city of Heraclea Sintika is 10 km away from the town of Petrich in south-western Bulgaria and has been among the most attractive archaeological sites in the Balkans for the past 15 years. The city, founded in the 4th century BC, in the tribal territory of the Thracians-Sinti, bears the name of the mythical hero Heracles (Hercules), who is considered the progenitor of the dynasty of the ancient Macedonian kings. Visit to History museum in Petrich. The collection of the museum includes artifacts found during the archaeological excavations of the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica.

Departure for town of Melnik. Lunch. Guided walking tour with visit to Kordopulova house museum. Melnik is the smallest town in Bulgaria. Original mediaeval houses, together with the ruins of a fortress are preserved here. The town and the region are famous for their wine cellars producing the best red wine in the country.

Return to Sofia.
