     Beklemeto 
 
     Area and Location
     Troyan Pass (Beklemeto) in the West Balkan Mountains is one of the highest Bulgarian passes, connecting North and South Bulgaria. Beklemeto Resort is almost at the summit of the pass, at 1320 m elevation. Just 22 km away is the small town Troyan. Sofia is 170 km away.
 
     Transport
     Three times a day there is a bus from Pleven via Troyan to Plovdiv and back that passes through Beklemeto.
 
     Skiing Conditions
     Skiing tracks with length of 2,5 km with alpine conditions, including one of the best tracks for ski-run and biathlon in Bulgaria. All the three skiing tracks are with lifts. There is a ski wardrobe, motor sledges and radtrack.
 
     Accommodation
     Allotment at Beklemeto includes 3 and 4 star hotels (Beklemeto, Via Trayana, Sima), along with many holiday homes. In the hotels there are small spa complexes and swimming pools.
 
     Attractions
     In the complex there are possibilities for organization of paintball games, airsoft, trolley, trekking, picnics, horse riding, phototourism. The region of Troyan offers myriad of cultural attractions.

 



     Byala Cherkva


     Area and Location

     This little resort with extremely beautiful nature is situated northwest from Narechen and Kosovo, in the lush Rhodope mountains. Distance from Plovdiv is approximately 40 km.

 

     Skiing Conditions

     At an altitude of 1600 m, there is a skiing track 1100 m long, 25-30 m wide, with 180 m displacement. The upper part of this track is suitable for slalom and giant slalom, while the middle part is with smaller gradient. Conditions are suitable both for amateurs and professional skiers. There is one lift, anchor-type. Its length is 960 m, with capacity for 250 skiers per hour.

 

     Accommodation

     Town’s and regional ski championships.

 



 

     Osogovo

 

     Area and Location

     This is the oldest hut in Osogovo mountains, built in 1927-1928.

 

     Skiing Conditions

     There are 3 skiing tracks with different levels of difficulty. Two of them are walking distance from the chalet (900 m length) – both offer ski equipment on rent and lifts. In the winter, guns for artificial snow are used for better quality of the facilities.

 

     Accommodation

     There are two mountain chalets with great conditions close by the skiing tracks: "Osogovo" and "Trite Buki".

 

     Attractions

     Just by the chalet, there is a wonderful small chapel, dedicated to the Apostles Peter and Paul.

 

 

 

     Panichishte

 

     Area and Location

     This is a small resort amidst the lush forests on the north slopes of Rila mountain, close by the lowest of Rila’s glacial lakes – Suhoto. The elevation is 1350 m.

 

     Transport

     There are regular bus lines to Sapareva banya, and to Sapareva banya there are regular bus lines from Sofia and Dupnitsa.

 

     Skiing Conditions

     There are several skiing tracks in Panichishte: Bekyara (470 m, with lift), Azhdena (400 m, with lift), cross-country track (with targets for biathlon training), Pionerska (400 m with lift), Seven lakes (300 m with lift), Rilski ezera (950 m with lift). Those include tracks for any difficulty. Since 2009, new skiing lift is operational between Pionerska Chalet in Panichishte and Rilski ezera Hut. It passes declination of 520 m for just 16 minutes. Its length is 2,2 km, its capacity – 700 tourists per hour.

 

     Accommodation

     There are comfortable chalets, small hotels and vacation houses.

 

     Attractions

     In the resort is Rila National Park’s visitors’ center. The closest town to Panichishte – Sapareva banya, is among the most famous spa centers of Bulgaria.

 

 


     Parshevitsa
 
     Area and Location
     The hut is high in the Vraca Balkan mountains, 25 km away from Vratsa. Altitude is 1280 m.
 
     Transport
     Accessible by own transport.
 
     Skiing Conditions
     Skiing tracks operate during the weekends. With length of 1100 m, they are suitable for novice and younger skiers, at 1300 m elevation. There are ski wardrobe and ski teachers in Parshevitsa Chalet. The lift’s capacity is 300 people per hour.
 
     Accommodation
     Parshevitsa Chalet is renovated two-floor building with allotment for 53 people, water-supplied and electrified, with a restaurant.
 
     Attractions
     In Parshevitsa chalet there is billiard table, large party hall. In the vicinities are the famous Ledenika Cave and Parshevitsa Waterfall.

 




     Semkovo
 
     Area and Location
     Semkovo resort is located in Rila mountains, 17 km away from the small town Belitsa. Altitude is 1600-1750 m. Semkovo’s beautiful wide meadows are encircled with pine and spruce forests. To the north and northwest there is a magnificent panorama towards the high peaks of Rila. At this elevation usually there is snow cover by the end of November, and in January it reaches 70-80 cm.
 
     Transport
     You can arrange transportation from Belitsa in the local tourist office (in the very center). To Belitsa there are regular buses from Sofia, Plovdiv, Blagoevgrad, Razlog, Velingrad.
 
     Skiing Conditions
     Semkovo has 7 skiing tracks with overall length of 3,2 km serviced by 8 lifts. Three of the tracks are on the north slope – those are with relatively higher difficulty. Those by the resort are with smaller inclination, suitable for mass sports. Longest and most difficult (black) is Sever 1, 1100 m long.
 
     Accommodation
     Available are hotels, vacation apartments, bungalows. More popular are the hotels Rila and Bor, Semkovo Chalet, Sveta gora. There are also holiday homes of several Bulgarian universities.
 
     Attractions
     By the complex, there are kids’ playgrounds, indoor swimming pools. In the small town of Belitsa nearby, every February local people organize the Bela Itsa festival. Close by is the Park of the Dancing Bears.

 

    Uzana

 

 

     Area and Location

     This resort is located in Gabrovo region, on the slopes of Ispolin peak (1524) – precisely in the spot which is considered the geographical center of Bulgaria. Here is the most expansive summit in the Balkan mountains, with altitude between 1220 and 1350 m. The closest big city – Gabrovo, is situated 22 km away. It has been declared resort complex in 2009.

 

     Transport

     There are two daily buses from Gabrovo.

 

     Skiing Conditions

     There are 8 tracks in the resort, the longest – 1300 m. All of those are equipped with ski lift. The meadows are wonderful place for kite-boarding.

 

     Accommodation

     There are several chalets here: Uzana, Gorski dom, Favorit, along with several hotels: Prima S, Impuls, Geografski centar.

 

     Attractions

     In close proximity are some of the most interesting places in Gabrovo region, famous for its cultural heritage as the capital of Bulgarian humor and satire – in the town there is a museum dedicated to it. Close by are Sokolski monastery – established by one of the most famous uniates in Bulgaria, Etara ethnographic reserve, Bozhentsi and many more.
