Suhindol is a town in north central Bulgaria. It's position in the middle of the Danubian Plain creates excellent conditions for growing wine grapes. Since ancient times the region around Suhindol has kept historical documents, artefacts and proofs of viticulture practices and winemaking. Lovico Suhindol Winery, founded in 1909, one of the oldest in the country, is Bulgaria's showpiece winery and has been displaying a remarkable dynamism over recent years and each year has seen the creation of new top-class wines. The Winery manages around 300 ha of own vineyards in the region of Suhindol. The main grape varieties are the indigenous Gamza, as well as the traditional Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat.
Today the winery is a leading name in Bulgaria's wine producing industry. The implementation of modern vinification methods, combined with the tradition and experience of over a 100 years of business practice, guarantee the creation of wines with a true Bulgarian character and quality. Working on specific projects in the course of several last years, Lovico Suhindol managed to revive the old Suhindol tradition of producing high-quality boutique-type wines, vinified through the blend of classical methods with modern innovative techniques.
