After an investment of 12 million euro, the winery was opened in 2007. The wine cellar is positioned in the southern part of Bulgaria, 2 km from the village of Mezek and 7 km from the town of Svilengrad. Katarzyna Estate is located at one of the most favorable for vine growing regions in Bulgaria and Europe. The region is a former border zone and this is why the landscape is barely influenced by the human activity during the last decades. In fact, one of the winery's brands - "Halla" has it's name deriving from the secret name of the Bulgarian border stands during the communist period. The estate includes a kaleyard and an apiary which not only permits the production of organic honey but also improves the pollination of the vineyards. Red: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere, Malbec, Tempranillo and Mavrud. White: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Vyonnie, Muscat Ottonel, Traminer and Semillon. |
