After an investment of 12 million euro, the winery was opened in 2007.

The wine cellar is positioned in the southern part of Bulgaria, 2 km from the village of Mezek and 7 km from the town of Svilengrad. Katarzyna Estate is located at one of the most favorable for vine growing regions in Bulgaria and Europe. The region is a former border zone and this is why the landscape is barely influenced by the human activity during the last decades. In fact, one of the winery's brands - "Halla" has it's name deriving from the secret name of the Bulgarian border stands during the communist period. The estate includes a kaleyard and an apiary which not only permits the production of organic honey but also improves the pollination of the vineyards.
The vineyards (about 3000 ha) are located in the surroundings of the estate, in the "White Land" locality. The sorts grown are:

Red: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere, Malbec, Tempranillo and Mavrud.

White: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Vyonnie, Muscat Ottonel, Traminer and Semillon.
