Hissar is another famous spa resort, situated 42 km south of Plovdiv, amid the sunny southern slopes of Sredna Gora Mountain, at an altitude of 360 m above the sea level. Its climate is transitionally continental. There are 20 mineral springs with a total flow of 4 000 litres a minute, and temperatures ranging from 37°C to 51°C. The range of the curative properties of the waters here is wide because of their contents – they are slightly mineralized, hyper thermal, hydrocarbon-natrium, with a partial content of sulfates, fluorine, and various micro-elements. Once frequented by the aristocracy of the Roman Empire, the spa is now visited by thousands of people all the year-round to improve their health. The mineral water in Hisar can be either used as for drinking every day or for the prevention of different diseases.
