     Dolen is a typical highland village (1020 m altitude) situated in the southwestern part of Rhodope Mountain, 26 km far from the town of Gotse Delchev. It was built from settlers that ran away from the forcible conversion in the Muslim religion. The Revival architecture, which is preserved till now is the purpose of designating the village for an architectural reserve in 1977. Main places of interest include the old St. Nikolay Church, built-in 1834 in a complex including a monastery school. On the iconostasis, there are icons, painted from Georgi Filipov, an icon-painter from Dobarsko. The village is also famous for the developed goldsmiths.
