Both summer and winter are filled with varied events on the cultural scene. Bulgaria is a small country, but it has given birth to a myriad of world renowned opera singers and classical musicians – Gena Dimitrova, Rayna Kabaivanska, Vasko Vasilev to name a few. They often return to their home country and it is always a pleasure to listen to their performances – especially when here tickets for them are several times cheaper than abroad. The opera theatres in Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Ruse, etc. also give stunning performances – the opera season is during the winter months, but for Plovdiv it is mostly worth to attend Verdi’s festival on the open-air venue of the Ancient Theatre in the summer months.

     Since the 1990s, several large entertainment companies are working on the organization of large concerts of world-stage stars in literally any music field in Bulgaria. On many music festivals going on throughout the year, you can go to concerts of Madonna, Metallica, Manu Chao, Faithless, Enrique Iglesias and many more. Also throughout the year, there are concerts of the stars of Balkan music – mixture of the traditional folklore and western rhythms.
