Area and Location

     Albena is lying in a picturesque bay only 30 km from Varna and 502 km north-east of Sofia. The rare combination of fresh air, crystal clear sea and mineral water, remedial herbs, various natural products and perfectly organized Medical and Spa Centre make Albena a perfect location for family holidays.

     Batova River passing by the resort is interesting with its location in a natural forest. To the north, the shore is steep, formed of the yellow sandstone and limestone typical of the area. It is these stone slopes that gave the material for building the resort.

     Accommodation
     Most of the hotels have a terraceline structure with well-projected stories. The concept of this architecture is getting more sun in summer days. 
     At present, the resort disposes of 43 hotels functioning. From four-star to two-star categories the hotels offer different degree of comfort and luxury. They are situated at the beach line, close to the National Reserve "Baltata" or at the near hills with marvelous views to the sea. In general, the resort turns out to be one of the most expensive on the Black Sea coast, alongside with Dunes and Rousalka. The prices often vary during the high season. There are all sorts of discounts for group reservations, students, etc. In the summer of 2005, there were 11 hotels functioning as all-inclusive.

     Transport
     There is regular transport to Albena from Balchik, Varna, Golden Sands, and Dobrich. Apart from the regular town buses, there are a lot of private minibusses, route, and ordinary taxis, water transport from the small harbor of the resort.

     Entertainment and Dining
     In Albena, you can find more than 40 hotel restaurants, snack bars, cocktail-bars at the very beach, and several inns and taverns, with over 17 000 seats. Hospitality and good service are waiting for you in small cozy beach restaurants, as well as in the modern deluxe restaurants and taverns, offering different food – from continental-European and traditionally Bulgarian to Indian and Chinese cuisine. Albena Resort also disposes of bars, casinos, restaurants with entertainment performed by famous actors and actresses.

     The sports center in Albena is one of the largest sport recreation bases in this part of the world.      There has been developed a whole range of water sports with the assistance of coaches and equipment. Albena has a Congress Centre, which provides the preparation, organization and holding of congress and business events in Albena Resort and coordinates all activities associated with these events within the resort area.

     Attractions
     There is an annual auto-rally called Albena held at the beginning of May, a folk festival for songs and dances, Golden Antennae festival for TV programs, bridge competition (in June), beach volleyball competition (in June or July), etc. Albena is a point in the route of the annual regatta; there is a football tournament, too.

     Children's Attractions
     Albena Resort with its wide beach line with perfect sand, crystal sea, and restricted access of vehicles in the resort has turned into a perfect place for families and young children. The resort offers to its young guests 21 children's playgrounds and above 20 swimming pools for children. Close to the Natural Reserve is located the greatest attraction - fun fair. The Emergency room and the manipulation room in the medical centre work 24 hours a day. The clinical laboratory provides all kinds of medical examinations including hormonal and tumor markers. The rooms for short stay and treatment are air-conditioned and equipped with: oxygen installations, monitoring machines for checking the pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and other vitally important body parameters.

     Albena Congress Centre provides the preparation, organization and holding of congress and business events and coordinates all activities associated with these events within the resort area.
On the basis of preliminary signed contracts with clients from the country and abroad, the Congress Centre organizes international and national events, as follows: congresses, conferences, symposia, seminars, festivals, business meetings, different courses for further qualification, training, anniversary celebrations, professional holidays, High-school graduates balls, Christmas, Easter and New Years Eve parties

     Surroundings
     3 km north-west of Albena is situated the village of Obrochishte with a well-preserved fortress dating back to the early Ottoman rule. Besides the village of Obrochishte, there is the village of Kranevo located 2 km south of Albena. Kranevo is a small village. The shore between Kranevo and Albena is high and extremely picturesque with sharply cut rocky formation. There are a lot of vines and small private gardens on the shore.

     Kranevo is known as a resort for small kids, where they go for their vacation, as well as running mineral water in the village. In the village of Kranevo one will find a combination of fresh air, clean seawater, and wonderful beaches. Between Albena and Kranevo are the three big camping sites of huge potential for the accommodation of tourists traveling on a budget, in bungalows and tents.
