Sofia Airport is the main airport in Sofia, Bulgaria. Located 5 km east of the centre of Sofia, it also includes Vrazhdebna Air Base of the Bulgarian Air Force. Brussels Blvd. is the main thoroughfare and the easiest way to reach Sofia Airport. Via Brussels Blvd. and Tsarigradsko Shose Blvd., Sofia Airport is connected westwards to the city centre and eastwards to Trakya highway. From the northern city areas, Sofia Airport is conveniently accessible via the East Tangent Str. Its junction with Botevgradsko Shose Blvd. opens an exit into Hemus highway. The airport was initially built in the late 1930s. Sofia Airport was modernized since 2000, while second terminal was opened in 2006. While waiting for your luggage, you can visit the rather attractive duty free shop in the arrivals hall where you can purchase goods using US Dollars or Euros. Please note: you will need to keep a coin of 1 Euro handy if you want to use a luggage trolley. On leaving the luggage claim area you may be selected at random to have your luggage x-rayed or searched.

SA TAX FREE & RTAVEL RETAIL Travel retail and tax-free stores at Sofia Airport can be found at both terminals and their opening hours are adjusted to the schedule of the first departing flight to the last arriving flight. The prices are in euro. Passengers can pay with credit cards, debit cards or in cash, in the following currencies: Bulgarian leva, Euros, U.S. dollars, Swiss francs and British pounds. SA Tax Free & Travel Retail stores accept Diners Club International, Mastercard, Visa and JCB Credit Cards, as well as all Visa debit cards, Visa Electron, Mastercard and Maestro, regardless of the bank issuer. The stores at Sofia Airport offer a large selection of goods at extremely attractive prices: fragrances and cosmetics, spirits and tobacco products, accessories, toys, selected sweets produced by Bulgarian and foreign companies, as well as bio cosmetics and gift sets containing natural ingredients. Passengers flying from Sofia Airport to a destination outside EU without any connecting flights within EU VAT area can take advantage of the opportunity to purchase tobacco products at Duty&Tax free prices. Guest Lounges “Pliska” and “Preslav” Location: at Terminal 2 after security and passport controls Description: places with comfortable and relaxing atmosphere where you can spend the time before your flight. Great variety of refreshing alcoholic, soft and hot drinks, as well as sandwiches, sweets, nuts, etc. Also available are Bulgarian and international press, cable TV and free Wi-Fi web access. In case you need some kind of assistance – lounge staff will be happy to help. Single visitor fee for Guest Lounge Pliska and Guest Lounge Preslav: 14.40 EUR (28.16 BGN) for a stay up to 3 hours.
VIP Lounge Location: in the western wing of Terminal 1 – Departures, it has an entrance of its own Description: four separate rooms – one main room and two separated rooms with about 20 seats each. The separate parking area intended to meet the needs of VIP clients, the elegant interior and the special personal treatment of each visitor, including the personal escort to and from the plane, constitute a part of Sofia Airport’s compliments to the users of the VIP service – provided upon payment of the relevant fee. Guest also have at their disposal a TV, Wi-Fi and cable internet connection, Bulgarian and international press, periodicals, as well as different types of refreshing non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks and food. The VIP lounge services should be ordered 24 hour (or less) before travelling.
